Impatience, thy name is Straka Zulu...
The previous paint session was barely dry, when I went and finished it.







Still needs weathering, but not going to do too much.

First troop of the year, done and dusted.
FanExpo Cleveland 2022 was a blast!






Also figured out a few things I need to work on, like always.

Gauntlets:  Need to make new ones.  These dug into my wrists almost to the point of drawing blood.
Helmet:  Padding adjusted, sits a little crooked in some pics, perfectly straight in others.  Fixed that during the post-troop cleaning phase.
Vest:  Need to hem the back, and need to extend the Velcro closure to the neckseal. Kept popping open as I moved.
Shnees:  Need to reshape them a little, if possible.  The knee section is too narrow, and would rub against my knees, and the flare at the calf needs to be brought in.  Kept colliding with the other shnee.

Aside from that, it was very good to get the armor back on.  Felt like a hug. Still, I want to get my Mk.III build going again.  Having the chest be a solid piece would remove the frustration of having to do the “Picard Maneuver” every so often.

Been a while since I posted any updates...




Painted up that new helmet, and will probably be using that as my P.Imp bucket.

And a new set of shoulders.  Should be fun getting kitted-up for the next event.


Was gifted a set of gauntlets that need some love to get them wearable. 

The white one printed too thin, the green/gold failed at 95%, and the black one at 60%.  Need to get to an AP to get some help in finishing them.

I also have plans for a kama, just need to get some new leather to start in on that.

Beautiful as always, Strak.  Though I recommend painting the 'crest/ridge' on the post-imp white, orange, or black. The gray doesn't really pop. (No offense)

I have to disagree with Jennari on this one. I like the charcoal grey for the center ridge and brow rim.

So, here's the latest.

I'm finally retiring my Modern kit.  Or, at least the plates.  "What?!" I hear you all say...  Well, It was time, at least until I can up my game with fasteners.  I got tired of the plates shifting with the slightest movement.

So, I introduce the revised Post Imperial Straka Zulu:

Starting with the helmet

Oh, and what's that? A backplate?  Yes. Yes, it is.  Big thanks to Atin Obrim for that piece.


Now, for the chest plate.  The original ab plate was broken, and when I went to reattach it, found it had started to lose it's shape.  It was curling in on itself, somehow.

So I designed one that I liked, making sure it was long enough for my oddly-shaped frame.

Then paint.



Then attached with my favorite method: MAGNETS!!



And I know it's off kilter.  Testing it out with one of the scrap pieces I had laying around.

But, it fits WHILE I sits!!

And honoring the last set.  I swapped out the new diamond I cut for my original steel one.

Next up, the backplate.  Need to finish the seemingly neverending story of sand, prime, repeat.


And, oh, look!  A PROJECT!!


Almost forgot...

Stole the padding from the Black Series Poe Dameron helmet I have.  Pretty comfy, IMO, once it's not in that vice grip of a helmet.
