I'll toss some other ideas out there for bases to work from. These are Star Wars toys that have been released over the last fifteen years...
There are also a couple of older offerings from Spy Gear that I've used. These:
...for a couple o Scout Troopers. A good size to fit in one o the waist pockets. There were two versions, these, which I painted white with black PlastiDip for the grip surface in the indents, and black ones with red lenses that I did for Shadow Scouts, which I painted... well... blacker, with gray PlastiDip for the grip surface. Kept the detailing minor -- some scuffs and scratches, a couple low-profile greeblies, and Imperial cog emblems in the center recess of the focusing wheel.
The other Spy Gear piece I used was one of these:
...for my Storm Commando build, since their waist pouches are bigger than the Scouts'.
All of these I've found at Goodwill at one point or another for a couple bucks. I have three of those Luke MicroMachines playset binocs, if anyone wants one.
