Your gonna have to do a lot of modding to make these approvable weapons for your kit. I recommend going onto the weapons section of the board and take a gander at what other members have done with those same nerf guns.

Allen's right. The guns cannot be recognizable to what they use to be. Even if they were compared side by side. (not really, but that's the idea)

Yup they are going to not be that color, and there's going to be a lot of modding to the gun's though I would like to keep their functionality with the exception of that ugly plunger on the gun with a laser pointer, that's getting cut off. Does anyone have any pictures or links to people who have modded that gun, I remember seeing an amazing one on the boards a while back but I haven't seen one in a while.

Like Ca-Loar said Nerf weapons require lots of modding so they don't look like recognizable Nerf guns. You can no longer sand off the logos and paint it black and say done.  Now a days, you have more work to do after to make the guns pass. I don't have links, but maybe use the search function to find "Nerf mods" or "Nightfinder mods" etc. The weapons section of the forums is filled with Nerf mod threads.

Like Victoria said "search". Also the guns you carry for official events are not allowed to be working dart guns. Per the CRL rules they have to be "non-functional". Case in point - you don't want to forget that it is loaded and accidentally shoot a kid in the face.  True story , almost happened to me.
Here's one of mine that "was a buzz-bee" nerf gun to give you an idea of how much you need to mod a nerf gun out and be acceptable.

Not trying to discouraged you at all, just want to give you an example of the rules.

Hey Vih'Torr!  I am just checking in on the AZ recruits to see how their progress is coming along.  How are you and your build doing?

Totally understandable.  Funds are pretty important so I feel ya.  I was just checking on those who started a build and we haven't heard from them in awhile.  I hope you find a job and some much needed funds come your way. Some times armor builds take awhile due to funds or time so no worries.  I was just checking in on the recruits :)

out of curiosity are there any guidelines of using real world coat of arms/family crests on armor? I thought about adding my family crest to it, but I wanted to modify it to make it more mando (knight helmet would look very interesting on a mando) but I wanted to see what the thoughts were on using things like this before I even toyed with the idea any further.
Just an example of what the coat of arms looks like (can't copy the image as it's copyrighted[paying for the image is downright absurd to me. If I'm part of the family to whom the coat of arms belongs I shouldn't have to pay for it... >.>])
Edit: http://www.houseofnames.com/bivens-coat-of-arms
yes I know I would have to modify it quite a bit to be out of copyright infringement. not trying to break the law with my mando just trying to incorperate my family history into it.

Interesting that someone can copywrite a coat of arms that belongs to a family.

Anyway, you could certainly do something like it but, you would need to modify as you stated. As that's not your exact coat of arms, Im not sure what details are on it so I will use the example given as an example of how to do it...

Change the griffen on top to a shriek hawk

Change the Knight helmet to a Mando helmet. If your Mando character is supposed to be from an ancient line design some type of custom crusader helmet for the sigil. If they are from the neo Crusader era use a NC design, if the Modern Era, a simple Fett style helmet

As far as the leaf work/sigil tribal... I would recommend looking for something more in universe as far as tribals go. A good Mandalorian example is the Crusasder circle

this is a good example of in universe tribal type design and one centered on Mandalorians.

That said, when designing a sigil, whether for your character's family or clan, there are some important factors to keep in mind...

1. Ease of transferance... the more detailed, the more colors, the more "pieces" in it, the more difficult it is to make a stencil, hand paint it or have it transfered to things like patches.

2. Use of the Mythosaur skull should be avoided. That is a symbol of the Mandalorians as a whole, not a specific clan.

3. Make it simple but striking. It should have pop. Think of sigils like...

Boba Fetts:

Jodo Kasts:

In club sigils such as...

Sandhawk Clan:

Krayt Clan:

Skirata Clan:

Simple, striking, in universer, easily replicated designs.

Regarding real world heraldry--(I do heraldry in a medieval group)  "Family Crests" are actually attributed to a specific individual, not to a family as a whole.  They are considered like property and can be bequeathed to a child.  There are actually indications of cadence identifying who the first born, second born, third born and so on that are applied to the individual device--A "label" for first born, a crescent for the second, a bird, rose, (although I always forget what sequence things are in and have to look it up)

For what it is worth--I would suggest using elements from it--the bird (SWarz it up into a SW bird of some kind) or the circles.

And the copyright is based on the actual artwork being done--individuals can copyright their depiction of a thing (usually not a copywritten character, though) but not the "idea" or motif.

I think I'm going to try and modify that into a round, I'd like to use that round but Photoshop doesn't like SVG's so I'll have to try messing with it in gimp as a last ditch effort I'll scratch build it but I'd like to use that as a base and then build it off in layers that I can print individually and then paint onto my armor
Edit:
I think I'm going to have to go back to scratchbuilding a helmet because I cannot find one that will fit my head :/
I may have to trade my chest and ab plates too because I think they are going to be too small.
I'll try and get some pics up later this week but I'm having a hard time and being really selfish about my dog, she needs to be put down but I can't bring myself around to doing it, she's been my best friend for 13 years now she shouldn't have lived past 10  :'( Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la not there but almost :(

Sorry to hear about your dog situation.  Awhile back we had to put our Pug named Kato down. It was the hardest decision of my life.  He was old, sick, and we didn't want him to suffer any more.  It is so sad  and so hard to think about letting go of your trusty dog aka a beloved member of your family.  I know what you are going through.  Hang in there and make every second with her count.  Give her the best days ever. What helped me, was to think what if the roles were reversed and I was the dog.  What decision would I want made.  I really wish every living thing can just go in their sleep.  They have a happy day, go to bed, have sweet dreams, and nicely pass on.  I feel your pain :(

I'm really sorry vod; I can completely relate. We just had to put down our sweet little pal of fourteen years. Tassone is absolutely right. What also helped me is thinking about all the things she used to love to do, but couldn't do anymore without pain. It was really hard to make the decision, because you just want to keep them as long as possible, but realizing how poor her quality of life was, and how she would be at peace with no more pain helped me through that time. Love on her every minute and cherish this time with her. She knows you love her, and I know how hard it is to make that decision. I feel your pain  :(

I know how you feel. Our girl was 13 yrs old and had diabetes, going blind and she was in so much pain from a car accident 10 years ago.  It was the hardest thing for me but it was better for her.   :(

I've never had a dog since my mom didn't like them, but my cat of 11 years died over the summer and I had to find out a thousand miles away in a letter.  :(  I miss him.  Aay-han is absolutely the perfect way to describe the feeling.

On a positive note, I like all the planning you're putting into your kit.  Good job bouncing ideas off everyone and despite the job situation, keeping a good fix on your planning.  Remember that real life comes first, and costuming second.  Here's hoping things pick up soon.  :)

Alrighty I suppose I  should post some more build log pics, this one here is going to be for my main weapon,
Really really bad concept photo

essentially I'm taking the stock off and bondo'ing a Firefly back to it, I'm trying very hard to keep all the battery/led/switch area's intact for  easy arduino electronics installation later.
I'm in a pickle as to whether or not I want to cut off the front (as seen above) or not, with it on I can get a 3d printed shotgun grip.
like such

or be stuck with those god awful looking bolt pegs but have a kick shebs front.
anyways here's some of the progress I've done no glamour to it but it's getting better

And in case anyone wanted to see a picture of a gutted Firefly here you go
http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u424/Alexander_Bivens/IMAG0025_zps0524486d.jpg|
On another note that butt I will be purposing into a side mag well and I'm looking into getting a 3d printed dummy clip to stick into the longshot when I'm not using it.

Paint scheme will be jet black possibly with some dark (much darker than the standard Longshot) Blue

Yes I am trying to maintain functionality of the CS-6 while trying  to make it CRL approveable
Yes I am insane

Any thoughts comments or concerns?

EDIT: I'm also moving away from the whole crossover Mando/clone idea, there's still going to be some highlights from the plan but certainly not as Clone esq. for EX I'm completely moving away from a visored ARF style helmet and I am now going with a NME Enforcer still has a bit of clone but much much much less noticeable.
