Taking a slight detour from my costume build, although this is part of it  I have made a start on the pistols for the costume. I'm also making a pair of pistols for my friend Shelley's Bo Katan build, in return she's going to do some sewing on the flightsuit for me.

Started off with a pic off the net which I then scaled up in Photoshop to the appropriate size and printed on to card. I tested the first version in the holsters that came with my kit and discovered that the template was a touch to big so went back to photoshop and scaled things down a touch and printed again.



Then it was a simple matter of using the template to draw out the shape on to a piece of wood.



Then it was off to Shelley's to make use of her scrollsaw smile.gif



Off to a good start I think. Next will be some drilling and planning of how to fit in the electronics, just going with a trigger activated light, no sound.

The original fit in the holster but was sitting a little to high out of it compared to the screen shots I have and I wanted to get the look right so had to scale it to match the holsters from the kit.

Looks very good!! I love the 35. Selling some of these eventually?

Eternal Armoury sells resin Westar 35's and Woodchuck makes some really nice wooden ones.

Sweet! I didn't think woodchuck did 35s! His stuff is stellar but it has a priceto match. I may check out Eternal Armories. Thanks ner vod! I'm no goos with wood myself

Yeah, if I had lots of money to spare I would buy a set of Woodchucks, he even does a version with blue LEDs

On the upside, Eternal Armory have just redone their Westar 35 master and it is looking pretty sweet, reasonably priced too, you can get a set of two for under $100.

I was checking out Eternal and their new one sounds so cool I have a feeling my Mando is going to be a pistol hoarder.. Doubles of everything! haha.

Any more progress on yours though? I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out!

Nothing further at the moment unfortunately, was hoping to get some more done this weekend but its not looking promising at the moment as some other things have been happening, mostly been playing around with ideas for fitting the electronics in, plus I have a con to go to next weekend so I need to check over all my gear for my 501st costumes and make sure everything is up to scratch.

Ok, finally found some time to do some work on these

I really hate it when, what should be a simple job turns out to be a pain in the butt. The electronics concept is simple enough but fitting it in to these blasters has turned out to be something of a logistics nightmare. After scrapping numerous ideas I have finally come up with what, I hope, should be a workable solution. I've used one of the pistol blanks as a test piece and will have to replace that with a new cut out but it was worth it to try out some ideas.

At any rate I have started making some progress today with the pistols. I have drilled the hole for the barrel and cut out the section just behind it.



Drilled a couple more holes to help with inserting the electronics and shaved down the grips a touch because I have noticed in the screenshots that the grip is a touch narrower than the body of the pistol.



Hoping to make soem more progress tomorrow, including cutting out another pistol to replace the one I messed up with my experiments
