[Catade Vaulr]

This is my rough sketch of my first idea for the pirate inspired mandalorian twi'lek armor kit.



My fiancee' and I are planning to make a plaster mold of my chest so the armor sits more comfortably with a bra on (or so he tells me - bras are mandatory for me ).

My plans so far are:

Lots of color - greens, blues, pinks, purple
Custom helmet for a more feminine look (no bobble head for me!) with visible lekku & flip up visor
Not really sure about weapons, but close quarters combat is a must.

Things I have already procured:
Flight suit - (aka black compression top and bottom)
Vest  - (my honey's making that)
Boots - Leather Teva boots (ultra comfy)
Sintra for armor (3mm & 6mm)

I really love the flowing shapes you are going with!
I feel your pain of bra requirements. I personally ended up going with a sports bra. I was having trouble with my plates moving all over the place. Just make sure you use the same bra for everything or things can get skewed  I love seeing alien builds. Can't wait to see you get started on yours!

Interesting concept - I know it's only in the drawing stage at the moment but I'll suggest now that you lose the pointy bits around the neck and leave the inner neck plain round. And you'll need to even out the gap you've got between the collar and chest plates. The diamond can sit higher as you have it, that's not an issue, but mold the armour round it so it all ties together. Especially if you're using Legacy as that tends to all overlap all the way up rather than having any gaps.

You may also find that you need to enlarge the shoulders to account for the helmet likely being a little wider than a human standard. Twi'lek ears and lekku tend to make the head wider than it would be and thus the helmet width increases. You might not need to, but, always worth thinking about as you go.

And don't use a really light material for the cape if you're planning on latex lekku. I would say they don't go together, but it's more that they do go together. Far too well. *tangled cape around lekku is seriously not fun to try and deal with*

I like the design!

One of our recruits just recently did a plaster chest cast for her plates. We fiberglassed the shell, and now she's in the middle of sanding and bondoing it to get it smooth. It's definitely less work than trying to force sintra into a nice round shape haha!

This is a lovely concept. Very streamlined. I agree with Kris though. The lekku will change the shape and proportions of everything. And the pointy bits around the neck look nice in the concept, and would be great if you were working with fabric, but with the armor...exsanguination doesn't seem like a pleasant way to go.

I exaggerate, but it would be uncomfortable.

By the way, Kavryn, is our clanmate planning on removing the plaster from the resined fiberglass or has it become an integral part of the armor? Or did she already do it? I haven't found her build page if she has one.

She is actually planning on having the lekku sit behind her, laced together with decorative lacing, in order to alleviate any entaglements that could happen. As a warrior twi'lek, that seems the most reasonable way to go about it. As far as "pointy bits", if she keeps them, the rest of the kit will be consistent with the lines and spacing necessary, as I am the one helping her build the kit in it's entirety.

Ahhhhh, now I get what youre saying...good point (pun not intended). And the lekku will be helmet-only prosthetics, hence the flip up visor for keeping in character without having to take the bucket off.

I don't think she has a WIP here, actually. I'm pretty sure she removed the plaster, since the fiberglass is much stronger and the plaster adds unnecessary bulk and weight. It's Ashlea in the Facebook group, if you wanna send her a message. I'm sure she'd show you pictures if you wanted
