DAYS NINETEEN & TWENTY: HELMET/PAULDRON/BACKPACK/SHKNEEGUARDS WORK

OK...long awaited update...lots of stuff done, just haven't had the chance to post up...

Helmet resin jellied


Shriekhawk resin jellied


and sanded and set up for mockup (note the no-neck space)


Started formwork and glassing on lower canister of rebreather


Then the helmet oxygen hose was installed


And the shknee guards were shaped, drilled for mounting to boots and knees secured to shinguards with metal plating



Tomorrow's forecast calls for shknee guard wireform and initial glassing, beginning gauntlet construction, cleaning of the upper armor for fitting to set up for chestplate alignment & design, as well as chest plate design and initial wireform (possible glassing)

DAY TWENTY-ONE: SHKNEEGUARDS & BOOTS/BACKPACK/HIC IPHONE WORK:


Mounted the shknees to the boots. Used 10/32 nuts and bolts with large washers for support, and then cut and covered the nuts with epoxy to secure in case of possible unscrewing via walking/what-have-you



finished up the design aspect for the main body of the rebreather. Also mounted the on/off button for 1 of 2 LED wires. (heres a test run before painting.



and sketched out one side of the Taozin scales chest piece. Will cut this out and flip over to do the other side, cut out individual scales (3 per side) and begin wireform and glassing. Since these will be fused with leather strapping as the middle broken section, it may take a while. Still have to pick up the leather. But, on a bright note, the scales are more or less flat, so not a lot of unneccessary detail work to be done for these...

These will be thinner leather strapping, simulated taozin sinew, connecting the separate chest plates in the middle. (Don't worry. It makes sense and looks amazing in MY head, lol)

I'm actually wire forming and glassing directly onto the guards, for a more consistent look, same as done with the helmet.

Ok...quick update for today...

Rigged up LEDs for rebreather pack



also, lil tip to those that are having problems keeping LED stalks from getting crossed...hot glue them to popsicle sticks. guaranteed to lift and separate! (bad bra joke, I know...but it does work to keep the stalks separate)

Fiberglassapalooza 2014, Day 1!!

Shaped and glassed one shknee and partial gauntlet (the spikey bits)







Also added some dimension to the outside walls of the rebreather pack, after having mounted it to the back plate









I figure at the rate I'm going adding these little details to the kit, I should be done in approximately 18 years 

Tomorrow is yet another night of fiberglassapalooza 2014: night 2!!!

Initial glasswork done on the second boot/shknees, second gauntlet, and rebreather pack sides









also laid down the first layer of filler primer on the helmet





NEXT:

rough sanding boots/shknees & gauntlets & finish sanding rebreather pack ready for priming.

cut out chest, collar, bicep, thigh & neckguard  and set up forms for glassing.

begin saber hilt designs

braid padawan braids

set up boxing for pouches

DAY TWENTY-FIVE: BOOTS/GAUNTLETS/BACKPACK/CHEST PLATES WORK:

Painted the backpack after final sanding done, with etching primer.



First glassing on toecaps done, as well as sanding and touch-up glassing on shknees

Also finished glassing the edging of the gauntlets...



cut out and wireformed the chest plates. First initial glassing before structural glasswork and sinew strapping attachment (you'll see  8) )





tomorrow night? Beer and sanding and glassing, oh my!
