SWCE Update on page 10!

'Cuy!

About time I got one of these threads together. I've been umming and aahing alot over the last few days as to where I'm going with my kit, and with the help of Ashen I've hit it on the head.

Armour type: Light
Specialisation: Mobile Engineer
Quirks: Scavenger. Lots of 'junk' pieces (Chest Diamonds, shards of 'Iron etc). Plate honouring fallen Brethren.

I own roughly 50% of the softs I need, and am waiting until payday to get some supplies in for the armour. I have a background in IT, so I've got a few greeblies for a gauntlet already (LCD display, keys from a keyboard etc). Progress may be slow on this one, so bear with me!

General idea is to have some simple electrics. I've got a voice amp from an Army of Two cosplay, and will look into some simple LED kits. I've got a wee digital photoframe coming that I hope to integrate into my left gaunt, along with some keys to function as some kind of software...integration...fixy...thing. Not sure what to do with the other gaunt. I shall be getting some form of leather pouches to hold my in-universe tools.

I have a background in miniatures painting, so I'm looking forward to painting this one! I'm going to try out the Hairspray method of weathering on a large scale - an example of this is below:

TL;DR = Will take some time. Stay tuned for grimy, oil-stained updates!

I look forward to seeing your progress.  Big points for doing a "junker" kit, though; I've kicked around that idea a few times, but I'm far too fond of clean lines and plates to attempt it.

So, vod, get to work and wow us!

Cheers dude! I'm a sucker for weathering. I'm really looking forward to sullying my vest in particular! ;D

Printed, cut, and poorly stuck the templates together by myself. I know the spacing is far from perfect, but do you all think I have the right size of template? I'm 6'1"-and-a-bit, and printed the 'large' WOF templates.

FYI, the belly template ends at my nape, which I gather it is supposed to? I'm hoping that the width of the chest pieces, whilst off by around a mil or so, should look okay when formed and I am wearing the suit + vest. I really wanna get this right! :D

Thoughts? Too big/small?

Personally I'd say they are too close together, possibly 10mm off the edges and space to a thumb thickness.
placing though I feel is spot on, well done

I believe you are off to a great start.   I think once you get the spacing done I don't think you will have any problems.  Can't wait to see your progress in the future.

A wee delay with the PVC foamboard, but I did get a few softs in:

WWII Russian Mosin-Nagant pouches:

Generic boilersuit of death:

Framers gloves (logo removed)

All in all, pretty happy with the softs so far. Still to come is the vest/cape, which I am ordering from Etsy (partly due to inability, partly due to the sheer quality of the product!). Really love my 4 sets of pouches, got them for a very good price at a military antiques place in Cardiff. They even came pre-warn, how thoughtful! :P

Just had an update with my Etsy order, check it out!

Really happy with it, seems spot on with my concept.

Love your blaster dude and looks like you're making great progress.

Don't suppose you could link me to where you got the vest please?

Been neglecting this thread!

So I've cut and shaped the chest pieces (I really need to take more pictures). Just the backplate, cod, knees and gaunts to go!
Flightsuit needs some adjusting, it's currently too short for me (I'm 6'2", the suit feels at least two inches too short)

Oh, and I've been working on this:

Where is your vest ending? It should be right around your belly button. I thought mine was short when I first started doing this as well.

My vest is spot on (ends right at the nape), it's my flight suit that's giving me grief! Its okay width/chest wise (albiet a wee bit baggy), but doesn't cover my height very well. Sitting down is difficult! :P

You could always split it into 2 pieces, add an extra strip of material to one side and then some form of fastening like a zip, velcro, buttons or snaps so they stay as one piece again. A wide sash over that and under the vest will hide the gap and a couple of snaps would keep the sash from working its way downwards. You could just use the sash or have a girthbelt over the top of it so that the sash is just a colourful decoration.

I had a very similar idea! Great minds and all that ;D
It might need to be taken in a little too, the waifu is starting to make dresses and such at the moment, so I may have to bribe her borrow her skills!

I've made some good progress with my bucket, and I would love some feedback as this is my first venture into anything like this! Bear in mind that we have some way to go, and that this is a Mando scavenger - it's not meant to be clean, and I've actually taken a leaf from Boba and made small dents here and there!

Test fitting the RF here

Apologies for the mess, my spare room is full as we've just moved in!

C&C welcome, Vode!

You said you were using orange? Might just be the light or my eyes but that looks yellow to me. Whichever it is though it looks good.

And I'd stick with bribery. Seems to work best.

Update, second chest plate:

A close look at the Honour Plate (as I have dubbed it):

Diamond:

All together now (with the ab plate comically holding it up!)

Notes:

- I know it's weather-heavy. I'm a scavvy. And I've probably welded it for some reason.
- The 'Honour Plate' is something that my Character has done; note down the people that have made themselves immortal through tier deeds.

For those interested, the plate reads 'Remo' for his instrumental work that inspires not just the Vok'Chi, but the MMCC as a whole. 'Pogo', who was very kind and helpful to me when I decided to take the plunge into the world of the MMCC, who unfortunately passed away recently, and the names of my Waifu and kittens to fill the plate up a little.
