Finally managed to get the help needed to start heat forming my back plate !! Was a relief to finally get it bent into shape. Also got a few pointers that were bringing the armour down, mostly minor things such as the collar plate's length was not equal on one side compared to the rest. The plates were heated to shape, edges were trimmed that need to be rounded and a new medallion is needed due the shape being off somewhat, will just use it for something else.

The collar plate and back plate have been trimmed down near the edges to have a perfect matching fit, a look that I really like but couldn't have done without help.  One note I should make is that in the photos some of the plates appear to be floating off in small areas. This is due to the double sided sticky tape (which will be replaced with industrial velcro and fabric glue) losing its stickiness from constantly pulling the plates off and on the tabard but when its pressed into place like it will be with the velcro it hugs the body fine.

When the sanding is done and a new medallion is made, can finally get to painting  :porg2:

Good to see you're keeping up with this. Just to note there is not a need to measure and get things mm correct, our bodies aren't always symmetrical so it comes down to "How it looks when worn" rather than "How its worn when measured".

You're spacing looks good, it changes at different angles so we just need to ensure it all matches when the photo is taken head on.

As for the chest plate floating I see you noted it was from the tape; I would strongly urge you to photograph it with the attachment method before you paint. As they have been attached now they wouldn't be accepted so I couldn't in good faith tell you to paint. If you can show they are shaped to you and fitted then we are good, otherwise some further shaping could be needed.

Your backplate is going to need further shaping. The very top plate was positioned too low when it was shaped, so it is going to need more shaping in the bottom half to compensate as its now floating away (Check the bottom outer corners of the top plate). The top half of it is shaped nicely, you have that edge following your shoulder and closing in at the neck, which is awesome to see.

What is of more concern to me is whether you are standing at an odd angle in your back plate photo, or (what I actually think is) that your entire back plate is trailing over to the left (especially looking at where the centre of the vest is for the attachment). I would suggest to take the bottom two plates out and concentrate on getting that top plate centred and those edges heated and shaped in. Then get the secondary plate under it, centred and shaped and finally that bottom plate. If needed you can slightly sand the top 10mm of those plates to reduce the material so it slips under the plate above slightly easier. It isn't something I have had to do yet but I am just looking at the thickness of your material and giving you the option.

Thanks for the feedback Hik'aari, I have been working on the armour all day learning how to sew and attaching velcro to all of the chest armour. Going to be moulding more of my backplate tomorrow morning then begin applying the velcro along the back of the tabard and the inside of the back plate.

Here are some photos of the chest armour now attached in place with velcro. The only problem I noticed with the velcro was the upwards pointing part of the gut plate was not sticking to the tabard due to a slight lack of velcro. This will be fixed tomorrow, its only noticeable when moving around but still an error that will be solved easily.

Dusting off the cobwebs again from this thread.

Finished my replacement main blaster many months ago, proud of how it came out.

Today I forced myself to work on some parts I have dreaded for some time. Leg armour.
Out of the blue I worked on a cardboard template and made a single piece, combining a shin guard with a knee guard similar to Clone Trooper and Stormtrooper leg armour.  Here are some quick photos of it taped to my leg.

Got an idea for attaching it properly using a mixture of hidden velcro and strapping by cutting small slots in the base jumpsuit to thread straps around my leg so that it remains firmly in place while velcro supports it and keeps it in the correct position.

Well I got some extra dakka for my kit just in case.

One Scattergun and one Blaster Pistol from the Cabiris Armoury, all put together, sanded and sprayed. Ready to be painted up.
