Finished the Jetpack!









Completed an optional bandolier. Metal boxes made by hand using a metal-break, cartridges made with empty Co2 cartridges and topped with my own resin cast caps. PLUS a test fit of the new backplate, bandolier, and jetpack! Gotta shift a few things since the pack pulls on the collar quite a bit and weather up the bandolier. Other than that everything feels great and can't wait to blast back into events once Covid is dealt with.

Had some scrap ABS sheets laying around and got around to drafting some shins and thigh plates. Started on a Hvy Weapons Specialist for the Brigades so here's a few of the upgrades I'm working on!

In-between coats. The undercoat is a dark blue-grey.

I did a quick test fitting and I dig it. Now to work on finishing the thighs!

Your weathering is great! Awesome job. I wish more Mercs took the time to truly do the layered weathering look instead of calling it done with a base silver with the final color on top. It really adds to the weathering and also takes to a black wash nicely.

Also..... thigh plates?! You're going to cover up those beautiful thigh pouches?!?! Or are you doing the side thigh plates like the Clone Wars Deathwatch Mandos?

Really love seeing this evolution of your kits.  All your work is fantastic, it just is even more intriguing seeing your look evolve.

Thanks! Painting and weathering has easily become my favorite part of this hobby. I would take photos from weathered and paint chipped things around town to get inspiration for my applications. As for the thigh plates I have a new pair of pants that the leg armor will be mounted to. My idea is inspired by in-universe Mandalorians by having the option to swap out armor styles. This is mostly for unofficial photo sessions and personal wear. Once I become approved in the brigade I will have to troop the approved brigade kit but will continue to utilize every version of this kit for more awesome photos and unofficial events.

This is inspiring to read! Thanks! My hope for this thread is to show the progress over the years and to encourage others to continue upgrading even after approval. Much like my purpose for having more alternate armor components I wanted to display these upgrades in a way that flows with in-universe Mandalorian upgrades such as the way Sabine upgrades hers throughout Rebels or like Boba in ESB compared to his armor in RotJ. Changes that may be big in some areas but doesn't deviate from the character themselves.

Using real life photos of weathered/old items is the best way to figure out how to paint a kit to truly make it look realistic. I would say that you have definitely gotten the hang of realistic weathering though!
