Honestly, I have nothing else better to do right now, as I still don't have my flight suit fixed and vest sewn - this means I'm not starting chest plates yet. So when I get back from work I'll head down to the basement and start sanding it all down :P main body included, as it's painted with Montana... at least I'll sand down all the seam lines

Not much going on atm, flightsuit still not ready, struggling with cod/butt + belt attachment and main weapon... but I found someone willing to make a vest for me sometime in April :)
aaand I got to work on my knee armor and here's where I need your feedback, folks. I got only one pictured but both look like this:

The question is - does it look ok? I know you can't see much (that's what you get when your SO cba to take picture of your knees :P) but It seems to me that the inner part sticks out too much and that the front should be a bit wider but as I said - I need your input before I decide to spray it with primer

It's not whether it looks sci-fi that matters. It's whether it looks like Star Wars. Almost all the original trilogy guns were built on WWII and WWI guns.

I have a few problems with the looks of the Rebels cartoon, (which gets the tone, narrative and dialog of Star Wars right), especially Sabine's guns which look more like Nerf than Star Wars. I know they're in the Clone Wars, but I haven't gotten far in that because the narrative is so dumb in so many episodes.

The series gets a lot better further on. Definitely keep watching it. As for the gun, put the magazine on the side if you could. From what I've seen that's a standard change for nerfs here

mobcake - you are a genius, vod! I'm so out of ideas and yet here you are with such a brilliant and fairly easy mod :D I also got info from Q&A that should help me to get rid of that nerfy look

Cod + butt plate progress:

Sorry for the crappy quality of pictures below. My front camera sucks and it's pretty hard to take good pictures of myself by myself

^Need opinion #1 - does it make my junk look... big? :s

^Need opinion #2 - any ideas if this will pass as an ammo/utility belt? with added molle pouches of course

Unless every inch of strapping is covered, no.  MOLLE is not acceptable.

Well, the main idea is to cover the strapping :) what about the buckle, which is on the back, then - acceptable?

I... don't see a buckle.  Pics?  If it's the standard black parachute clip, it might fly, but...

Heh, I had no idea they're called "parachute clips". here in Poland they're just "clips/buckles"
Anyway, here it is:

I suppose I could do something cheap like this and hide it:

Yeah, those are fine. I believe here in the US, they're labeled "parachute clips" or "quick release clips"

Ever since I built my gauntlets I had no idea how to attach the rocket on the left gauntlet and yet make it detachable... as my gaunts are scratchbuilt and there's a crapload of filler on the left gauntlet, the screws were a "no no" and I didn't want to drill any wide holes for rare earth magnets. But today I made something that I am really proud of and I don't think I saw it done here (granted - I haven't searched through the WHOLE forum). Here it is:

Mini Jack plugs on the rocket

Mini Jack sockets on the gauntlet

Et voilą!

Close up shots, note that they're not fully plugged in, there's still that one last "click". Ignore the gauntlet colour - it's pretty bright outside today.
As always - any comments are welcome

Hah!  Major points for creativity.  Are you going to use adhesive to keep it in there, or are you gonna leave it as is, so it's removable?

Thanks for the kind words, vode, it really raises my morale.

Both the plug and the socket are glued in with a two-component adhesive, so they're not going anywhere.
I can still remove the rocket, as the socket looks a bit like this:

and therefore the plug is shielded from any glue

Red, I think what Cin was asking is if you're going to be gluing the rocket in place so it stays on your gauntlet.
Cin, I think Red's whole point of using the audio jacks was to make the rocket re-movable.

Thanks Jorad, now it's all clear I guess :P

EDIT:
Look, Jorad - no rails ;) and a new scope mock-up (need to find some sort of lenses)

What it looks like assembled:

Also, I'm considering painting it like that:

Thanks for the positive feedback, Delta. As for the cod piece... it kinda... just happened. I didn't want it to be flat but when I used foam it expanded like crazy and before I noticed it's too big, it was too late and I just didn't feel like remaking it. Makes my junk look big, doesn't it?
