I got in touch with a local sign shop. They're giving me some sintra at $1.50 per square foot. How does that sound deal wise? I'm getting scraps of 3) 36” x 14” for $3.50 ech., 1) 10” x 14” for $1.45, 1) 11” x 19” for $2.18, and 1) 16” x 26” for $4.33.

I don't know sintra prices, but I'm not upset over it really. I'm just not sure what other people come across when dealing with their local stores.

Not sure how all of those add up space wise but those pieces sound as if you won't have enough space for a generic back plate, which is pretty big. Those pieces seem to be either too thin or too short to make it. But I know that I was able to get 5 2' by 4' sheets from Amazon for $50 and that's way more than enough for a kit, including any mistakes. They also sell packs of 3 2' by 4' sheets for $30 which is still more than enough. You might want to crunch the numbers and see what works best for you.

I wasn't going to do a backplate right out of the gate since I'd be utilizing a full cape or cloak and my back will be covered. I know it sounds like a cop out, but I promise that it's not the case. I think I'll do another build with one.  :)

lol that makes sense then. Other than that it looks like you have everything that you could need for the kit. Good luck!

Thanks again, vod! I'll TRY to get armor templates cut out and placed on me so that I can have their sizes judged. I think they'll be way too big at their current size.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that my templates need to be cut down by a good half inch all the way around? They seem way too wide. My finger is marking the location of my belly button for location reference.

First thing you need to do, join the Mando B.E.A.R.D.S society (http://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?topic=66489.0;D

As for the chest pieces, only trim those down along the far sides (ones pointing away from body) as they're a bit too wide. The collar looks a bit small, even when the chest pieces will be trimmed, but I might be wrong.  The edges of the collar should line up close with the edges of the chest pieces. The ab plate looks good in size but will need to be spaced more evenly on the fin parts as compared to the chest pieces. My suggestion would be to cut the fins of the ab plate at a steeper angle so it looks evenly spaced with the bottom of the chest pieces. Good luck!

THANK  YOU! I've been dying to figure out how to join the BEARD society!

And my body is shaped weird. Super broad shoulders, long torso, and a small Waist (I'm also 6'2"). I thought the ab plate was decent for my size, so I'll keep that and make the proper corrections. I should be picking up the sintra after work tomorrow, so I'm anxious to get my my plates properly sized!

That's strange. It works for me. Well if you go onto the forum main site, and then under "General Discussion" then "The Lounge" you should see "Social Societies". Click that and then scroll down from the main page until you find the "B.E.A.R.D.S..." thread. That should do it. But yeah, the ab plate looks spot on. The main thing you'll need to modify are the chest pieces, as I said before. And then from there make sure the collar fits and looks good. It doesn't have to be spot on, just close enough to not stand out as a major difference in size. A lot of problems occur when it comes to body sizes, lol. Everybody is unique so usually the Jango Templates require some sort of modification. Good luck with the sintra though, it's an awesome material to use. How do you plan on cutting it?

My buddy and I have snips as well as a dremel with a few cutting wheels. Do you have a recommended method for cutting 3mm? And as always, I VERY much appreciate your help. You've been a big part of everything that I've been working on. Your insight is much appreciated! One day I hope to share the knowledge I learn with upcoming shinies as they ask questions.

No problem, vod. It really is my pleasure. I'm still learning a lot myself and there's a lot of people who I owe all of this information to as well. That's what I love about this community. Anyway, ditch the snips. Trust me, it's a flawed method, lol. Burned through a bit of sintra before I realized that that was not an option. I would stay stick with the dremel. If you have to, an x-acto knife or utility knife works too but for that, make several passes over an area or else the cuts will come out bad. For the dremel, it'll cut through it easily but make sure to cut a decent amount of space away from your line to give you some wiggle room. It can be easy to make a mistake and that extra space helps a lot. It can be sanded down later too and any finishing touches will take very little time

I think that I'll do the utility knife idea first and see how that works out. I was worried that the dremel may melt the sintra a bit, but cutting away from my lines will minimize mistakes and sanding will clean it up.

And apparently the BEARDs section is off limits to me for some reason. I found a link to the app page, but also found another fellow who couldn't view it either. hmm...

Here's the page.

I think I know the issue. I believe that you have to be an Auxiliary member in order to view the Social Societies page. I know that there are some pages and parts of the forums that those without an Auxiliary membership cannot access and these must be some of them. I think that the membership can definitely be worth it, though. It has for me at least

Auxiliary or an OM. Just forum members can't see certain boards.

Like your concept, and can understand your problem in coordinating colors. My sister is colorblind to green and purple.
