So here's where I'm at.

Ever since the Great Photobucket crash of 2017 I've been trying to restore photos and make this WIP usable for new Unofficial Members looking for a guideline. I'm slowly working on that as best as I can.

Here's my original concept:

And here's my finished kit:

So don't worry if things change as you go.  :D

Be flexible and have fun!
-------------------

Alright guys and gals, I need your help getting some things figured out. I'm colorbind, so I have no idea how to match colors appropriately. I'll tell you what I have in mind and maybe you can lend some suggestions! I'm thinking about doing a Mando thats located on a desert planet. Possibly Florrum or Ryloth. I envision that he's rugged, beaten up, and looks like hes had to improvise here and there to get the job done.

Now, I'd like the main color of my buy'ce and armor to be FDE (Flat Desert Earth). I'm obsessed with this color and OD Green. Haha. I'm also looking at getting a pair of Dickies coveralls. Should I go with a Khaki color or a Dark Navy Blue? I'm thinking either one could work, but Khaki may blend better for the environment. I was also thinking about doing a rust color and matte navy color for accent on my armor/buy'ce. I'm also considering using a pale yellow somewhere for very minor accents to help it "pop".

I have no clue if any of this goes together, but I need to make a decision so I can start getting it all together. I'm only locked into FDE being my dominant color. Anything else is entirely open to suggestion. Feel free to add your input, becase I DEFINITELY need some help!

Here's a link to the overalls that I'm looking at:

If you're going for the FDE I would suggest going with the khaki coveralls as they will match the FDE color scheme and desert theme too. But I think that the dark navy might work well if you're looking for contrast. This could definitely use a second opinion though

I'm definitely leaning toward the khaki color, but the blue MIGHT look okay if I weather it properly. Or would a charcoal or gray be a better choice? There's so many options right now!

And as always, thank you for your input, Vod!

My pleasure! And I believe that khaki color is the way to go but with a charcoal or gray vest, it would look perfect. Those would offer great contrast with the khaki and FDE color and will look great. You could also possibly make that vise versa. But I think that dark navy might be a stretch, although it could be done

If you want to go for the more earthy tones, I'd say stick with the khaki, although the navy blue could look pretty awesome in constrast (I'd weather it a ton if I were you if you went that route).  Grey just might not be enough in my opinion.

Do you plan on making the vest or buying it?

I think making it would be more cost effective. Right? Or do you know of one for sale at a good price?

My vest was home made and only cost us around $20 worth of material, and we ended up with enough duck cloth for a second vest. YOu can get vests at the supply depot http://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?board=270.0 and the ones I've seen have run in the $80-90 range.

The ones that I would trust buying are at around $80 ( I just put my order in for this one http://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?topic=50888.0).

Also, it all depends on your level of skill and confidence with being able to create one. I tried to make one and it failed drastically so I decided that for myself, it would be more cost effective and worth the price of buying a good, quality vest. However, if you have the skill, then by all means make it yourself and it will definitely be cheaper. From what I've seen and the vest that I've just ordered, duck cloths is the way to go. And I think this would work really well with your FDE color scheme, especially the black or gray. And duck cloth takes dye extremely well so you could dye it if need be. Also, it is relatively cheap. I know that Joann's Fabric sells it for $10.99 USD  for a yard of it. It doesn't sound like a lot of fabric but once they cut it, it is a good amount. I just got 2 yards last week and I can take a picture of that when I get home to show you what I mean. Also, if you get the Retail Me Not app on your phone or sign up on a computer and print out a coupon (not trying to advertise it, but it's helped me with cost), they offer a lot of great coupons for Joanns both online and in-store. As of now, they have a 40% off any regular priced item one that lasts until the end of May. I used that coupon and I only paid $13 for the two yards which is a great deal.

But anyway, it mainly depends on your skill

Oh heck yeah. I'm not too sure where my skill level is on a sewing machine, but I can learn! If all else fails, I know a few talented people. I wasn't sure if I should use duck cloth or like a pleather type material.

I tried to use pleather from Joann's to make mine. Cheaper and looks really cool but it's weaker than duck cloth. I would suggest duck cloth

And holy sweet Mandalore, is it sweaty!  My original vest out of marine vinyl was sturdy, but didn't breathe for anything.  It made trooping in the desert sun a small nightmare.

Another problem I didn't think about, and thankfully experience lol
