Can typical shemaghs be worn? With the traditional checkered like pattern?

They can but as Straka said, they have to fit with the kit. Also, make sure that you only use 1. I've seen other people try to use more and they've got their apps declined or people told them not to use the less important one. It makes it look too earth. But as long as it fits with the overall aesthetic of the kit, then you should be fine. I would post this in the Mandalorian Q & A section though to get an answer from the app team

Right on, thanks Vode! I can probably just as easy find some brownish, thin and softer cloth and go from there.

So I think I have my armor templates sized properly. They're
a tad bit crooked but I think you'll get the idea. My finger is at my belly button. I have a LONG torso and big pecs, so I had to make sure the plates were shaped around me okay. They were cut for a friend but didn't fit her and seemed to be perfect for me. What say you, Vode? Can I move forward with putting the temps on sintra?

Size wise, it's looking pretty good, although in my opinion adding some more space between the plates would be a good idea, as it'd bring them closer to your navel, which is what you're shooting for on terms of the ab plate's lower alignment.

A fellow Ohioan! Thanks for the quick reply! should I simply just drop the ab plate a little and add more to the top and bottom?

I'd add a bit more to the bottom, yes.  By comparing mine to yours, I'd say you need another inch or so.  Adding material to the top would mess up the spacing for the other plates.  Since I have somewhat similar torso proportions to you, I'd say let it sit just a bit above your navel, you don't need it there precisely.  Here's how my chest plates sit on me for a reference (albeit a mid build one).  Damn, I was out of shape six months ago haha

I see what you did with yours! That's a nice looking kit!  I added some more length to mine. Any trimming can be fine tuned in the sanding phase. As before, my finger is at my navel.

Eventually I'm going to go for a desert environmental specialists on Ryloth. I think I'm going to stick with a medium armor build. I'll be eventually doing a long sniper build as well. I'm looking forward to hopefully getting to meet you and the others as well!

Sorry for my delay in replying. I spent ALL DAY making my dumb vest. I learned one thing today. I HATE making vests. Haha. The sewing part wasn't bad, but making the vest fit right was a pain in the shebs.

The greeble part I was working on in that picture was originally a portable air compressor that you plug into your car's power jack. It got broken and I found it in my basement and decided to take it apart. I forgot to grab a picture of it today since I was consumed with the vest!

Here's where I ended up as of tonight. I'll get my plates on the vest this week and get the okay to move forward.

I added a zipper to help get it on and off.

I also added darts/panels in the back to snug it up around my midsection.

The next step will be adding the half sleeve type shoulder parts for my shoulder bells. I'm forgetting what their called at the moment!

Any advice or critique is welcomed! This was my first time touching a sewing machine in 12 years or more. I have ZERO real experience on one.

Looks very well done, vod. Definitely fits you perfectly. Do you plan on sticking with that color or dying it?

Thanks, Vode! I don't know how well dying the Navy would work. I figured the vest would be a nice accent on my khaki flights it and contrast my Flat Dark Earth chest plates. My only concern now is that the Navy would keep me from getting approved for desert ops environmental specialist brigade after becoming an OM. I'm certainly up for suggestions. I really hope I never have to make another vest again. EVER. Hahaha.

You're actually very right about the color choices. The navy will accent the desert colors perfectly. I don't think you'll have a problem with that on the application

I'm going to second going with the navy.  It'll look awesome, and you don't typically see many colored vests, which will make you stand out in a good way.

Well... Haha... I started cutting my template out at 3 in the afternoon and I finished it by about 10 that night. So quite a while. But that was also me sitting down and having words with the sewing machine and then reading the manual to figure out what I was doing Haha.
