Nope.  Nope, nope, nope.  Cloth wrap on a perfectly acceptable weapon is not a good look.

Also, your gauntlets could use some building-up to look more like a unified piece, as opposed to parts just being stuck on top of them.

Remove the wraps, fill in the screw holes, beef up the grip and the buttstock, and paint it.  That's the simplest way to go about it.  You can also use it as a base for a respectable kit-bash, if you're inclined to make a custom weapon.

the funny thing is I did fill the holes and paint the hole thing and put burnt umber paint in all the cracks to look like dirt I just realy liked the wrap how about this one I made my kid

I generally stand in staunch opposition to cloth wraps on weapons, especially if they cover more than just the grip, or a portion of the buttstock.  When used properly, they give the appearance of a comfort modification or a hasty repair, which is very in keeping with the Star Wars universe (everything looks like one solid thwack would make it go to pieces due to years of wear and tear).  The way you've decked yours up makes it look more like a mummy than a blaster, and says to me you couldn't or wouldn't put in the effort to make a workable weapon.  If you want to use wraps, use them sparingly, and give attention to the edges of the wraps themselves.  Yours are dirty, but with clean edges.  fray them a bit, make it look like it's all worn, and not just dirty.

Your plates are looking solid, though.  Tape them up, let's see how they fit.

I always figured the wrap look was more of a desert theme ( for keeping sand out of places), so functional and on the fly. so with that in mind focus on hand grips and the firing mechanism. Although, I do agree with cin, you'll need to balance the detail by weathering the cloth appropriately

Looks okay (not too sure about the gauge on the side; it comes across a little steampunk), but how does it sit in your hand?

  I was thinking that the gauge can be a heat gauge to let me know if the blaster was overheating

I think the gauge may look a little earthy... I'm not sure it would fly, but the rest of the gun looks pretty sweet! Is that a blaster burn in the wrapping right side? whatever it is, it looks awesome!

I'd also like to see the plates taped to ya, so I'll keep my eyes open for those pics when you get the time

Hmm I don't mind the gauge actually it reminds me of the earlier star wars games that had that one gun that never ran out of ammo but over heated like nuts; maybe try working it into the handle somehow so BitTorrent look added
