Gauntlet Update!

I have started working on the gauntlets this weekend. I didnt have any 16 gauge aluminum available, so i opted to buying 26 gauge steel which is thinner than the aluminum in the rest of my kit. I do not have any welding equipment at my disposal, so I bought some weldbond from hobby lobby and tried using it for putting my pieces together.

On my right gauntlet, i wanted to have an area to connect a barrel for a secondary weapon.


Hmmmmm..... i dont like how that looks


Ill just cut out the area itll fit into then and then ill bondo it!


Boom.... roasted....



I will have more pics as time progresses. This is all i had time to do today.

The plan is to bondo the gauntlets, and then sand them down to make a seamless looking single unit that will slide on and off.

It's Rather Pic Heavy This Time!


Gauntlets:

I used bondo to fill in the gaps between the two pieces.






Gloves:

I have a pair of these Kevlar knuckle gloves that I am planning on using. They are great gloves.


I was watching the Rocketeer the other day (one of my favorite movies and comics) and got an idea on how to wire LED lights into my armor and eventually my helmet. A switch in the glove activated by a press of the button!


Speaking of LED's, here i was practicing my saudering and electrical techniques

I know this isn't armor, but i weathered my pistol while i was at it.

UPDATE 28 JUL 15

After the armor party this past weekend I now have a vest to mount my plates to (shout out to Meridian Creations on etsy and facebook), have finally finished the girth belt, learned that I needed to patch the hole in my back plate, patched the hole in my back plate, wired up the electronics in my right gauntlet, and decided on making a gaffi stick as the hand to hand weapon on my kit.

I talked to the Etsy store making my kit and he is shipping my helmet out tomorrow finally. So soon I will be able to start posting pics of that.

Just stumbled upon this build. Love seeing vods go all out on metal armour. Hoping one day to be the proud owner f a metal kit too.

Those LEDs turned out fantastic! Would like to incorporate some in my gauntlets too. I'll be watching this kit with interest. Oya vod!

Well the armor is "mostly" shaped and ready to go, the electronics from FETT-TRONICS are installed into the chest plate, and the plates are mounted to the vest! I feel so much better about this whole build and have a new found stride now that i've hit this milestone.

*NOTE*

I am waiting until the next armor party that I can attend before considering the vest as fully complete. It's hard to do spacing on my own, especially since I have never done it. Tell me what yall think!

Ill have some more pics soon. I start my helmet this weekend!

Alrighty then! Hello again!

I finally got my helmet in a couple of weeks ago.... well a month ago, and i finally sanded, painted and have it just about ready for the visor...... whenever that shows up lol Here we go!

First off, i forgot to take a photo of the resin cast before I sanded it. So here are the pics of the helmet after i sanded it and attached the RF.







So i had a little accident when cutting out the rear vents in the helmet. Turns out that the resin is really, really, really fragile.



You know what though? I might be able to fix this..... screw it, im going to make it bigger and recess the fan into the rear of the helmet.



Baboooom! It fits!......... Well that won't due like that...... lets just find a way to cover this up... now comes a little ingenuity







I forgot to take pictures, but the vent/ fan cover was bondo-ed to the helmet and wammmmmo! It held on. After all the bondo dried, i sanded the helmet one more time and covered the helmet in a layer of rub n' buff.





Wow, that metal vent blends in now.

I need to do some final weathering and painting and attach the visor still. So more pics will be up soon.....hopefully.

Suggestion: I'd weather the vest a bit to dull that color. Otherwise, looking great!!
