Have you settled on a color scheme yet?

I have chosen a colour scheme. Compared to my original idea, its a lot more subdued, and should hopefully work if I go Urban Assault down the road with out too much modding.

Lots of weathering will be added for more of a "front lines" feel to the kit.

I know that they recommend getting approval before thinking about brigades, but in this case I'd consult the brigade boss on the colors.
I believe UA recommends "city colors" such as grays, brick reds, etc. Your purple and green looks cool, but may not fit the aesthetic that UA is looking for.

Fair enough, also a good point to ponder. Worst case scenario I make a second kit?! Lol

As promised, here is the update....now with photos!  ;D

Whipped up some bondo, filled all the gaps and seams, sanded it down all nice and smooth.

Added some physical battle damage. Scrapes and a few dings to add more depth. Made sure to under coat with silver, so I could add the masking (vaseline) for scuffs and paint chips. Hit the buy'ce with primer and blamo!  :o Came out ok dare I say it!?

Let that dry, and got to the masking for the next colour. All the masked areas will stay grey, and the exposed areas will be hunter green.

Biggest pain in the shebs is waiting for it to dry and adhere properly. Tried to move things along once it was dry to the touch for more than an hour...boy was that a mistake. No pictures but the paint was not dry enough and the tape used to mask pulled it right off the bucket. Lesson learned. patience...patience...

Buy'ce update vod'e!

Paint is coming along nicely if I do say so myself...lol Few touch ups before I get to the weathering and finishing touches, antennas painted and weathered and the all important visor dilemma. What colour do I choose?. I'm thinking metallic blue or a dark black.

I have pictures of my weathering tests in my armour components thread, if you want to see how that is going as well.

I always look forward to the community's feedback.

Oya vod'e!

I like your color scheme but I feel like the light purple is a little disjointed. Are you going to outline it or detail it? Otherwish. Brava! I'm having trouble enough with my pre-made buy'ce much let making one by scratch! Good job vod! :D

Coming along very nicely, loving the green and purple combo  ;) Not dissimilar to the shade I used and when weathered with a wash it will really compliment the green (though it shouldn't  :P )

Thanks  Vod'e this buy'ce has been such a cool journey so far. Learned loads and am really feeling confident about the skills I have gained.

I think the purple will pop once the weathering and black wash has hit it. I'm not going to bold outline the areas but hopefully I can get more weathering in there to create the same effect.

Back at it after summer has wound down. Love the time I had with my son.

Alrighty, back at it. I have my Buy'ce cleaned up, touch ups completed, and the weathering process well under way!

I will be posting more pics tonight after I get home from work.

Oya vod!

Here is the photo dump as promised...a bit delayed but here all the same.

Black wash, dry pigment powder layer, and finally the coffee final coat to darken it up and add more depth.

Digging this build. Usually I don't like crest/mohawk from the hardhat but it adds to your design overall. Keep up the good work.

Thanks everyone! Waiting to finalize my visor choice. I have a tinted slab that used to be a vehicle sun visor. Not sure it's dark enough. Need to figure out how to tint it further while still having visibility. Would adding a sheer fabric to the inside meet requirements as long as it's not noticeable?

I used a wielding visor smoke #3 tint, runs like $10 on amazon, though I would suggest using a #4 or #5 in green if you could find it.

If you want to tint your own I would grab a safety visor, the kind used while grinding or cutting and use window tint to color it.

Looking real good, vod! Weathering really makes your colors pop on this.  Well done!

How did you find paint adhesion on the Home Depot buckets? I was going to use them for my bucket but went with Sintra because I'd read HDPE doesn't take paint very well (probably the reason they make paint buckets out of the stuff, right?)
