Droxis' first armor plan
« on: Jul 21, 2015, 03:46 PM »
Ok so now that a buddy is laid up I'll have to find a new source for plates but oh well. I used the mando maker for my color scheme but my purple came out a bit light. I intend for it to be a darker shade (cape looks flat but would be much fuller)

The cape I'm going to be doing is going to hang on one shoulder like a vest with my arm going through a hole (using one of my biker vests to pattern that side upper section) and then wrap around back to come up to my neck plate and attach with a twist lock that my father and I have used for ages doing custom leather work (Doing renaissance and medieval events so I have em on had and they should work). the center stays on the armor while the upper ring with the hole would be on the cape. so I'd slide one arm in then bring other side around back and attach the clasp. I intend for the cape to be reversible grey/black and purple on the reverse side

(cape looks flat but will be much fuller)

Clasp

on the more exposed shoulder I want to do an articulated pauldron like this but more squared off

And rather than a chest diamond I want to do something akin to an hourglass

For a girth / ammo belt I'lll be modding a few surplus military gun slings and adding pouches

There will also be more color detail work on the armor in silver/grey and black

ok soI found a good supplier for 6mm ($50 for 4x8 sheet) and I have my scrubs being sleeved and de-pocketed. now I just need to start messing with templates. I'm 6'2 and chest is 40" the plate templates are sized to height but not width the ones my height always look way too wide anyone have a suggestion on which template to use?

the 6mm will be harder to work but I'll feel better having it riveted right onto my vest. I'll be using washer behind and thin leather between washer and vest and between vest and plate to make sure it doesn't wear through. this was inspired by ori cabur's build here. http://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?topic=20379.0

For the templates, you'll have to mess with the size of them.  Use the 6' templates, but narrow them horizontally to fit.

Flight-suit will be completed this weekend. grey scrubs with the "extra pant = sleeve material"  modification. it'll breathe a lot easier and not be so dang hot in the vegas heat. gotta buy material for vest now.

Updating helmet layouts too so I have em around.

 boba style

IronForge Renegade layout (sorry its fast and ugly. just needed color layout not artwork)

I now have approval on my chest hourglass, Diamond replacement. I've also decided to do a second layer on my trauma plates slightly in from my base layer. Gives some depth and gives me an easy way to secure my plates. I'm going to set my Chicago screws in under the top layer securing them permanently. all I gotta do is unscrew my plates from inside my vest. the screws will be epoxy'd in through the base plate so they cant spin.

New pic of trauma plate and chest piece layout.

Vode I Love your ideas!

Colour, cape... Also Renegade is among my favorite!

You're going light, medium or heavy? That choice makes a lot of difference in planing!

I'm hoping to see more of it soon!
