CrazyDec's First Wep WIP DZ-13 Blaster
« on: Jul 25, 2015, 08:03 PM »
Well this started out as an old spring airsoft pistol I had from when I turned 16 ages and ages ago. This is the thing that got me into airsoft and now it is a relic in my collection, so I thought about giving it a breath of new life and turning it into my personal side arm for my Mandalorian build.

It started out as an M9 pistol, all inner guts and springs removed so it could never ever fire. This also kind of meant the trigger kinda got stick down... oops.

I had some PVC pipe playing around, pipe foam, plumbing parts, spare airsoft bits, lego and playmobil (who remembers that!?)
still plenty of work to do on it but any advice or criticism is appreciated. Peace!

Looking good! Are you going to have a transition piece between the back of the pipe and the main body of the blaster?

I do, sort of. I am going to remove the hammer at the rear and then I will have to trim away some of the pipe and foam to fit a small flash light (torch), seen below. Also I have this cylindrical little barrel piece also playmobil and a piston from an airsoft sniper rifle that I will try and side mount close to this.

Thank you, I was thinking of adding magnets inconspicuously to the sides, then get a ferrous metal on my thigh plates so I can get away without using a holster. Has anyone done this before?

I'm sure a few people have.  I'm thinking of doing it for my kit.  Not sure how, exactly, to incorporate everything, but I have no doubt there's a way.

Brought back from the dead! Long story short, life issues got in the way and had to stop costume making. I'm back now and I have been getting underway!

So I have added onto my blaster pistol a little bit. Filled in with car body filler and an epoxy putty, needs a bit more sanding but this should be good to go soon. The pistol grip I plan on wrapping with some thing fabric.

Any thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated.

I am also working on a much bigger larger blaster rifle. The base is an old airsoft gun, It is completely hollow and no functioning parts remain inside. I have used PC pipe as the barrel, an old AK 74-su muzzle. A few PVC pipes and metal pipe as the scope assembly which is using a folding vertical grip to hold this in place. The ribbing on the barrel is from an old toy snow mobile tracked vehicle, I had to sand down the spokes that would fit into the gear wheels. The best part was trying to find a stock that didn't look normal, going to my local car boot sale (flea market), I saw a shovel handle. As luck would have it, it fits on the original buffer tube, with a screw being threaded through to secure it. Not too shabby!

I like the additions to the pistol. It'll be easier to visualize it with a coat of primer on it. I would try to stay away from wrapping the grip if you're able. It can sometimes look kind of tacky, or like you're covering up a mistake (just my opinion though). I wrapped a grip on one of my guns and really regretted it.

I love that rifle. Every picture I scrolled down just kept getting better. The tracks and the shovel handle are brilliant. Keep up the good work.

Really liking the rifle.  There is still a lot of AR influence in the receiver, which may not be a problem since its a base for canon weapons.

I LOVE the folding front grip used on top.  That's a brilliant idea that I may borrow for my own A-289 inspired build.  I've been wracking my brain to figure out a way to cover the top rail.

I will be priming these once I think I have sanded to within an inch of its life. I will avoid wrapping the grip for the moment, I would only use a material I could tie together, rather than bonding to the pistol grip itself.

When I saw rogue one I was like, hey, thats an AR15. So I pretty much stole that idea, even though I know looking at the A280-C, they have a AR body underneath all other things there too. It's nice to have the folding grip on top as I can then remove this metal piece to my harts content but it raises things away enough to create the gap. I plan on adding a few things ontop of this grip so it doesn't look so odd with those grooves and curves.

As If this thing couldn't get any bigger, I wasn't happy about the gap between the barrel and the main receiver parts, so a few hours cutting and gluing some basic geometric shapes, I came up with this to slot on.

I haven't attached it just yet as I'm deciding on how to attach it, drill a hole to screw it to the barrel and then add epoxy putty to smooth it.
