So I have been tossing around the idea a lot lately of doing an ancient Crusader mando.

I have already found the shoulders I want, and am pretty confident in my ability to work leather and all that.

The only part im getting antsy about is the helmet/mask.

I think i want to do a full Helmet, and i was considering using bicycle helmet with the pointy back and modifying it to make it look like it was carved from bone.  But i had another Idea.... What if i took a resin Predator Mask and modified, added a T-visor and all that.  The predators have a similar head shape to the Taung, and I think with the right mods, it wouldnt scream "Predator Mask"

What do you guys think?

ummm i am still in the design stages.

No job right now, so no capitol to start building anything....  ill get some drawings up soon.

I'd say a predator mask would work just fine, or even if you wanted to get extra fancy and think you Southern types could tackle latex, you might be able to mod a predator face itsel to go under the mask to look like a taung. I had the same idea for my first kit, I just came up short on some of the leather and tools.. I'd love to see what you come up with though.... Any thoughts to weaponry for it?

I can't really remember what the Predator masks look like, but I say go for it.
Helmet is my biggest issue, too.

The Predator bio helmet just covers the face and top of the skull, but not the sides. And they're freakin' HUGE! I'd say go with the bike helmet as I have done on mine. It's definitely an easier build. But it would be cool to have the Predator bio mounted ON TOP of a Mandalorian helmet. That was pretty much the idea behind Ni'Sya's first bucket, the Predalorian.

Anyway, I'm hoping to see this project come through. I may be doing a second set of ancient Crusader soon with leather and fiberglass "bone" fragments.

Unfortunatly, this project has been thrown on the farthest back burner i can find.

With the financial situation being what it is, and both computers out of commission (im typing this on my iPod touch), costuming is taking a break other than minor upgrades to existing kit.
