Hey all.

Still in the planning stages of my mando. Some of you may have seem my work on a gauntlet and a Hasbro blaster.


With the gauntlet I'm testing my skills at pepakura before deciding to go down that route fully.


With the blaster I was just testing my painting/weathering skills. I plan to only display this on at present.


As stated I'm in the planning stages at present. Below are some colour schemes I'm considering.


All thoughts welcome.

Combat green and black has always been my original thought.



Then toyed with black and Orange.



Then white. This is my current front runner.

Apologies for double posting, but I found out there was a mando maker app so I made a design in there. Only thing I would add is the stripes on the chest plate I think.



Im also just cutting my templates. Will be posting pics to ask advice on size. Once I have done that im gonna make a mannequin. Being 6'1 and about 130lbs I need to get it right ha ha.

The white is my favorite. Have you looked into doing a duct tape form?

Personally I like the green, its different and you see allot of white, black and orange kits these days.
though a tweaking of design to make it pop more may be an idea

Looking good so far. The only thing I would suggest is a contrasting color for the vest so the plates stand out on it, otherwise they kind of get lost in there. A light grey would work nicely, just enough to let the plates stand out while keeping close to the original all white idea.

Yeah having looked into it there are a few whites out there. Tho not seen many here on the UK.

That's not a bad idea with making the plates a light grey. But may just get an off white flak vest?

I've made two bits of pep armour so far. What I might do is make three shoulder pads and test the three colour schemes out. The white would have possibly Orange and Grey stripes.

Also been looking down the sintra/foamex route. We have a few sign suppliers in my town so emailing them to see of they have any waste offcuts.

I'll make the other two colour schemes using mando maker too. Standby.

I wouldn't go so dark with the green on a black flight suit. Might want a medium green. That one scheme is smexy.

Maybe like an olive green? Then so the plates etc as a darker forest green? I'm just worried that the greens won't colour match to well.

My flight suit is navy blue with a olive flak vest, green girth, khaki ammo belt, o.d. green pouches, and sage green gloves.



This is a test for my thigh plates. I'm actually going to use legacy style thighs instead.

Progress Update: Helmet has had a dark wash to bring out the detail and make it a bit grubby...

Still liking the greens more BTW, Avidem is right though vary the green, you don't want it too dark or the weathering won't show through well

Yeah I'm thinking combat greens. That was always my original colour scheme. But once I coloured the white up. I had second thoughts.

The white/black/orange scheme hearkens back to the rebel pilots in my opinion. Not saying that doesn't look good though, I kinda dig it. That being said, it's a good combo to go with. to reiterate, if you go with white, change the flight suit and vest colors for contrast. Rather than go with grey plates, I would say go with off-white or grey for the soft parts. It has been said already, but contrast is the key to making a kit pop!

Yeah, thinking using the off white similar to boba fetts flak jacket. Not sure how I'll get the flight suit that colour. It's so tough deciding lol

I'll do a few more concepts tonight. Get your thoughts. I want to get it right.

Best bet with the flight suit I'd to buy a pair of dickies long sleeve white coveralls and dye them. Just make sure they are 100% cotton. Synthetic fibers are a pain in the shebs.

Its the classic 1/2 inch off the sides, somehow its the same for most 

Personal choice is the green, but needs a second and third color to break it up more, cos right now looks very plain, overwhelming black and while like the other 2 are hard to look weathered without a feux primer level to bring it off the metal .

How about of I made the flight suit olive green, Brown vest, forest green plates?

I am swaying more towards black now tho ha ha. What's Feux primer?

Will take 1/2in off the sides tomorrow. Also I'd probably add stripes and decals of some sort to the plates too.

Sorry, spelling mistake: Faux primer
Faux primer is a false primer layer on the silver metal and under your main base color to differentiate the 2 when close match.
EG: primer(to make paint stick), silver (to make look like metal), Faux  primer (white- as metal would be primed before paint), red (base paint color), Details color- black and Green (for lack of other choice)
