I would close the gaps a bit as a blade can easily penetrate in between.

every Mandalorian protector should have a good " Mandalorian's Protector"  ;)

They are already glued down. I have an idea of how I can fix it though... just pull the cloth together in the back.

I'm thinking of doing something like that... I'm at a toss-up whether to use overlapping scales or an armadilloish pattern.
