force wielders?
« on: Aug 24, 2015, 02:55 PM »
I'm currently in the planning stages of a crusader era armor, and am curious on the Canon of force wielding Mandalorians from this era. As of the great galactic war entangling the sith and Mandalorians, as well as the general respect held for Darth Revan, it seems likely that there would be a few force sensitive Mandalorians who picked up a lightsaber. I don't think there is any case in the extended universe where this has happened outside the Mandalorian knights (which I believe fall into neo-crusades category), but it does seem like it could. If I add a panel skirt and other elements of sith robes to a set of crusader era Mandalorian armor as well as a lightsaber, would this still quality?

Eagerly awaiting this response as I'm planning a Jedi/Mandalorian hybrid.

We don't allow Jedi or Sith/Mandalorian hybrids for approval. There are very few canon examples of force using Mandalorians. The only ones we allow are those specific ones mentioned in the EU, IE Barden Jusik, Kad Skirata. We actually do not allow lightsabers on a kit at all unless they are trophies or tools, not weapons. You can be Force-sensitive, but the lightsaber and obvious Jedi/Sith items wouldn't be allowed. The Mandalorian Knights are also not approvable, they weren't Mandalorians. They were Jedi who wore the armor.

So, while you can not make a Force user/Mandalorian hybrid for approval in to the club, you can make one for fun. It just couldn't be used to get OM status.

Yeah, figured that would be the answer.  That's why I'm planning a Mando/Jedi, that with a few accessory changes can become a full Mando to be approvable.

well, fortunately, I planned that I might get this response. That's why I'm going to have the sith like elements easily removable, so I can have a sith/mando hybrid, and official armor in one set. Take off the robes, and equip a blaster instead, and it should work right?

When darth maul was mandalore I don't think he had a set of armour so I'm afraid that won't make an aprovable kit.

So here we are once more. Use the search up on the tool bar and look for "Force user" or "Mandalorian knights", read some of those, and then see that this will in no way work what so ever. Sorry.

This seems topical:

Can our characters still collect Sith etc artifacts as curiosities and trophies if they have some kind of sick fascination with them? (Without using the Force themselves or their saber weapons).

Yep. However if it is a weapon of some kind,(light saber, Sith sword, training blade...) there needs to be enough weathering so people can not mistake it for a weapon od yours.

Sorry my photobucket  seems to be acting up so I can't currently post any photos as examples.   But, check out the force hunter brigade.   If you are set on having Jedi/Sith stuff on your kit, just take the extra step by designing a jetti shebs kicking mando.   8)  I love the reaction when people realize the sabers hanging off my belt are all VERY....broken

I was figuring on doing just that actually. Refinish a couple of old plastic sabers I have lying around, apply the same weather to them, poke a few holes, add bits hanging out for nice broken saber trophy. Justify the sith influence with the armor with the fact that the character is a obsessive sith hunter.

Try PVC pipes. the old plastic sabers look absurdly large, in my opinion.  check my WIP, I think I have some photos of my trophies there.

The sabers I have are old and from the 90s, maybe earlier. They don't have any bells or whistles like a spring loaded blade, or lights and sound, so they're much smaller than most plastic sabers seen.
