I've actually done a fair bit of work on this, but I figured a WIP should be put up.

This is an idea that has been in my head for some time. I wanted a heavy Mando with a large cannon, inspired by several kits on here. Because I no longer fit my vest I figured now was the time. On top of that a Mando wedding coming up shoved me into gear.

Step 1: Basic approval. This will meet the CRLs, timing is too close for anything more unfortunately.

Step 2: Add the additional armour I want and start towards the Brigades.

Step 3: Brigades approval.

Now for a photo dump.







I used my first set of armour as a template as the armour still fits me. Seriously the best is just too small. I then used masking tape to pattern the trauma plates.








I intentionally went with a lopsided design with the trauma plates as the idea is that I am slightly side on when wielding a large weapon so I would want extra protection on my leading side.






With the upper armour done and glued together, it was time to paint what I had. Dark steel and bronze.





Next was the shin. I forgot to take pictures by the looks of things until I had painted it.






Next up was to work on the shnee and start cutting the shoulders and thighs.










I also created a knee based on the clone GM style knees.



Then more painting.













Then it was time to cut the rest of the shoulder plates out, plus the gauntlets and for plate.










Then it got a heat treatment, though I have only shown all the shoulder plates.




That's the build so far. Gluing and painting this weekend. Next weekend the vest. I will be reusing my flightsuit (if it ain't broke).


I also want a ammopack. I'm using this

And my inspiration for the weapon.




I also plan on a shield on my leading arm (Mando police inspired, but diamond shaped)

And a blast shield on the helmet like Mand'alor. Because if I want to be a tank, I will want extra protection.

Just a small text update. Go the velcro and elastic for the shoulders. Been too damp to paint, though I should have glued stuff together. I should be able to get stuff done after work though.

Need to go over the paint in places where it had not fully dried before I added the tape. Though it does look like weathering.

Plus the original paint job comes through and adds a nice layer of silver.

Also added kill stripes. Figured it was time.

Note. Dark grey, not green.

i gotta say im loving this new direction you are taking! i worked a few spots on my bucket that the masking tape had lifted off, into the weathering as it was easier and as it was random it looked  more authentic than anything i could do....

Interesting concept with the layered shoulder effect . One concern worth noting that jumped out at me is that some of the lines on your trauma plate edges are a little wobbly. I can see that you're going for some asymmetry in the trauma plate layout, which is totally cool, but final product you'll want to try to straighten out the wavy lines with some sanding. Definitely gonna look like a beefy boi, though, so should be a good fit for heavy assault/heavy weapons in the long run!
