Yes.  It even sounds like an interesting idea and I might want to borrow it.

It just make sense. Doesn't matter if it's an energy cell or a magazine for slug throwers, a blaster hit make it go BOOM... in the one spot you're not armored.

Stormtroopers have utility belts of the same material as their armor.

Armoring an ammo pouch or grenade sack is preventing a stupid death. Wearing a rocket engine in a fight is all about being willing to die spectacularly and leave a corpse that will make the coroner puke.
