First off, the MMCC would like to send out our deepest sympathy to all those affected, or who have lost loved ones due to COVID-19. With growing concern that is a direct result do to COVID-19(Coronavirus) the MMCC would like to address the situation. We, first and foremost, are not feeding into any panic that is already showing in the news, and in our local communities.
How is COVID-19 spread?
People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales. These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person with COVID-19 who coughs out or exhales droplets. This is why it is important to stay more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from a person who is sick.
What are some protection measures that can be taken to protect myself and others?
- Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.
- Maintain at least 1 meter (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing. When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth. Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick.
- Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately. Droplets spread virus. By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19.
- Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority. National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other infections.

First knowing what it is, is half of the battle, but next we would like to outline what the MMCC recommends as proper precautions on upcoming events.
Foremost, if you are displaying any of the above symptoms, it is best to stay at home or seek proper medical attention. This same basic rule of thumb can be applied to anytime you are sick, but definitely needs to be followed now with the current situation.
Above all your health and safety, and the health and safety of those around you at events is the MMCC’s top concern. We also want to ensure everyone is doing their part to help reduce the severity of this virus, and lessen the effects of how quickly it is spreading. If there is any attendee listed above that is showing symptoms, it is the right and obligation, of the clan admin staff to request that person leave the event. If a clans Alor’ad feels an upcoming event has the potential to expose the membership to the virus, they have the obligation of calling off the invasion, and all members of the clan must comply. This is to ensure the transmission is kept at a very minimum.
The MMCC cares deeply for our family of Mandalorians, and wants to see that every measure has been taken to ensure the safety of them.
Sincerely,
The MMCC Council
